NOVA Heat is an elite AAU basketball program based in Northern Virginia. The program is spearheaded by Head Coach David Mason, who also serves as the varsity boys’ basketball coach at Evangel Christian School in Woodbridge, VA.Programs & CoachingNOVA Heat operates competitive basketball teams designed to prepare youth and high school athletes for the next level.Leadership: Coach David Mason brings extensive coaching and military experience to the program, having previously led the FHS Hawks and rebuilt marginal programs into Virginia state champions.Competition: The teams regularly participate in local, regional, and circuit events, facing off against top-tier travel organizations.

Coach Mason’s leadership style is shaped as much by the Air Force as it is by basketball. His military career included strategic studies at the Air War College, and he now serves in an executive capacity at the Department of Veterans Affairs — bringing the same structure, accountability, and mission-first mindset to every NOVA Heat practice and game.

Coach Mason builds the program around one non-negotiable: integrity. He makes it a personal priority to connect his players directly with college coaches, advocating for recruiting opportunities for NOVA Heat athletes the same way he’d vouch for any teammate.
